 Rainbow Art Residency Application Guidelines 

As we embark on our first year at Rainbow Art Residency, we are excited to invite artists interested in exploring traditional Spanish artisan techniques. Our residency focuses on a diverse range of crafts and art forms, including:

• Traditional Ironworks from Toledo
• Ceramics from Talavera
• Roman Mosaic Techniques
• Non-Silver Photographic Processes
• Japanese Techniques: Raku & Kurinuki
• Glass Blowing and Other Glass Techniques Applied to Sculpture
• Jewelry Design

We are a collective of artisans and contemporary artists passionate about rediscovering and innovating traditional crafts. Our residency offers one-week or two-week stays, providing access to workshops and accommodations in the scenic countryside, an hour south of Madrid, Spain.

 Application Requirements 

To apply for a week-long or two-week residency at Rainbow Art Residency, please submit the following:

1. Personal Information:Full Name Contact Information (Email, Phone Number) Website or Portfolio Link (if available) 
2. Artist Statement:A brief statement (300-500 words) describing your artistic practice and interests. Explain why you are interested in this residency and how it aligns with your creative goals. 
3. Project Proposal:A detailed description (500-1000 words) of the project you wish to work on during your residency. Outline the techniques and materials you plan to use, and specify which traditional Spanish artisan techniques you are interested in exploring. Describe your anticipated outcomes and goals for the project. 
4. Resume/CV:A current resume or CV highlighting your artistic background, education, exhibitions, and any relevant experience. 
5. Portfolio:A selection of 5-10 images of recent work, with descriptions for each piece (title, medium, dimensions, year). For video or performance artists, provide links to online video documentation. 
6. Workshop Participation: Indicate which workshops you are interested in attending during your residency.  Selection Process 

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experienced artisans and contemporary artists. Selection will be based on the following criteria:

• Artistic quality and originality of the work
• Alignment of the project proposal with the residency’s focus on traditional and innovative techniques
• Feasibility of the project within the residency timeframe
• Potential for the artist to benefit from and contribute to the residency community

 Residency Details 

• Duration: One-week or two-week options
• Location: Rainbow Art Residencies, an hour south of Madrid, Spain
• Facilities: Fully equipped workshops for various techniques, shared accommodation, and communal spaces for collaboration and relaxation
• Fees: The residency fee covers accommodation, workshop access, and materials. Artists are responsible for their travel expenses and any additional personal costs.

As our first year as an  Rainbow Art Residence we welcome artist that would like to explore the Traditional Spanish Artisan ways of working with Iron (Toledo's traditional iron works),  Ceramics from Talavera,  Roman Mosaic Techniques, &  other techniques  like non-Silver Photographic Processes, Raku & Kurinuky Japanesse Techniques, Glass blowing and other glass techniques applied to sculpture, jelwery design. We are a group of artisans and  contemporary artists that like rediscovering new ways of creation together. We offer one week or a two week residencies,  were you can access a workshop and a place to stay in the countryside an hour south from Madrid, Spain. You just need to prensent your artistic, design or artisan project for the time you choose,  and we will try to help you to achieve the project. During the time of art residencies we have workshops were you can attend as well.
